Dec. 27- Jan 12.
We listened to a pretty awesome sermon by our
"Priester Jordan"
(Reece's new name for our pastor)
this weekend and it was about
"following God".
We get it backwards so many times and ask God to
"follow us".
"following God".
We get it backwards so many times and ask God to
"follow us".
We have been seeking the Lord and asking Him to lead us and guide us and let us know when and what and who to go to Uganda again.
We have had Uganda on our hearts since the last time we were there, and it is time to
GO
again!!!
Yippee!!!!
We feel the Lord leading *CHARLIE* to go and he is going to
"Follow Him"
and hopefully lead a men's team,
and trust Him for the rest of the details.

Part of the message was how we use or misuse our "filters"
Our family's typical default setting "filter" is so often
the "time and money" filter.
I think this is probably a pretty common filter.

I think this is probably a pretty common filter.
If He is leading us to go He will always work out the details.
He is always our provider
and He is in charge of the sun and the moon and the stars and the calendar, so I'm pretty sure He knows our schedule, and can handle that too.

Following Him is running all things through the "God filter".....His Word...seeking Him....asking Him.....listening to Him, and following Him.
Above is Simon getting baptized by Charlie on our last trip to Uganda.
We dearly dearly love this kid.
He trusted in Jesus as His Savior on Charlie's first trip to Uganda. The team that Charlie and Lashae were a part of did a Vacation Bible School in the area that Simon and his brother live.
3 years later Charlie had the privilege of baptizing him and now I see posts on Facebook about him and his brother Patrick putting on youth events to spread
The Gospel!!!

This is Simon the first time Charlie ever met him in 2010. |
Him and his brother, Patrick, are
"our Ugandan sons".
We love them and support them and pray for them.
Simon called the other night because it was his open house at school and his mom could not come because his brother was in the hospital...so he called Charlie, to visit with him.
It just doesn't get any sweeter than that guys...to get a phone call from our son in Uganda in the middle of the night and hear......
"Hey Dad....just thought I'd call to say hi."
It is time for Charlie to GO and visit many friends, and some we call
our kids.
He is ready to
build,
farm,
visit some sweet orphans at Redeemer House,

and just encourage and love on some of our favorite people on earth.
Whatever God has in store, he is ready to
"follow Him"!!!!
Is He nudging you to GO too?

John 12:24-26
English Standard Version (ESV)
24 Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

Matthew 28:19
English Standard Version (ESV)
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Congratualations, way to step out and follow HIM again. I love it!
I recently returned from Uganda with my friend, Terina Dutton, and through a mutual friend, found your blog this morning. My daughter and I fell in love with Redeemer House, the ministries we visited, and the country. We have four children from Ethiopia but this was my first trip to Uganda. My husband might be interested in a men's trip. Is there still room on the trip your husband is planning? You can e-mail me at dmhortin @ hotmail . com
